Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation says trailer held 17 sports chairs

Seventeen wheelchairs were stolen from a youth wheelchair basketball team in Albuquerque, leaving the team without the equipment it needs to play. The Carrie Tingley Hospital says the trailer was stolen from its storage facility, and the organization shared surveillance video of the alleged theft with us.

"This theft of equipment from disabled children is profoundly heartbreaking," said Liliana Prado-Bujanda, the executive director of the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation.

"Our wheelchair basketball team relies on this equipment to participate in the sport they love, and its loss is a significant setback for them."

Albuquerque police are searching for the trailer, and the person or people driving it. The trailer is white, with license plate No. 88119TRK. The hospital did not specify the color of plate on the trailer. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
